Eddy and Ngozi return EFOD Cardiff to Faith School

On the 23rd of August Eddy Keegan and Ngozi Orji-Chukwu touched down in Entebbe, Uganda to begin a two week long trip working on a new disabled access latrine at Faith School, Kachumbala.

Eddy and Ngozi were taking over the work started by Olivia, Tara, Matt and Lizzie earlier in the year, who at the end of their visits manged to break ground on the footings for the site. The pairs work involved building up the footings, dealing with the constraints of existing boulders which heavily restricted the methods of construction.

By the time they handed over with Fran and Sophie, the next volunteers travelling to site, they'd managed to get the base slab into position and ready to be poured. While out in Uganda the pair managed to raise over £1400 between them, making a significant dent into the materials and labour for the pairs trip.

Ngozi had this to say about the trip:

"The experience has been truly transformative, collaborating with a dedicated local team to address challenges with innovative solutions. Meeting Odeke Michael, the site manager, and Augustine, the site foreman, in person after our previous virtual interactions from the UK has been a highlight. This is my first extended on-site role as an Engineer, and the hands-on experience in problem-solving and decision-making has been invaluable."
